MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID

A maximum of 16 students can be accommodated on all courses and all candidates must be a minimum of 14 years of age to qualify for certification. Mental Health awareness workshops, for younger learners, can be tailor made upon request.

Course Certification is valid for three years, with annual refresher training recommended.

AWARENESS OF FIRST AID FOR MENTAL HEALTH

RQF Level 1 Award or the SCQF Level 4 Award

The half-day Awareness of First Aid for Mental Health course provides participants with foundational knowledge and skills to recognize and respond to suspected mental health conditions.

With this course you can become designated First Aiders for Mental Health, serving as points of contact within the workplace to provide support to those with suspected mental health conditions.

You will learn to:

  • Understanding the effects of drugs and alcohol on mental health.

  • Implementing a First Aid for Mental Health action plan.

SUPERVISING FIRST AID FOR MENTAL HEALTH

RQF Level 3 Award or the SCQF Level 6 Award

The 2-day Mental Health First Aid course provides participants with an in-depth understanding of mental health conditions and equips them with the skills to supervise and provide support within their workplace. 

Who's this course for?

The course is suitable for individuals within a workplace, particularly those in supervisory or managerial positions responsible for implementing a positive mental health culture and overseeing First Aid for Mental Health.

What will you learn?

  • Building upon the Level 2/5 Award in First Aid for Mental Health key syllabus.

  • Detailed exploration of a wide range of mental health conditions.

  • Understanding the therapy and professional support available for mental health treatment.

  • Implementation of a First Aid for Mental Health action plan.

  • Application of mental health first aid principles in the workplace.

Course Duration:

Runs over 12 hours spread across at least 2 days.

Ideally conducted over two consecutive days, but flexibility is provided to accommodate specific scheduling needs, within 10 weeks of starting the course.
